Corbion to move to a new $13 million headquarters in Lenexa
Corbion officials are expected to break ground soon on a new $13 million headquarters building that will consolidate 200 employees into one location in Lenexa.
Corbion, a Dutch-owned food ingredient research and production company with facilities in the Kansas City area, plans to move next year into a 58,000-square-foot building developed by an affiliate of Block Real Estate Services in the Pine Ridge West Business Park.
The move to the forthcoming building at Flint and 83rd streets won’t be far from its existing Lenexa location, at 7905 Quivira Road.
“We could walk there, honestly,” said Jennifer Lindsey, senior director of global marketing for Corbion.
The Lenexa City Council on Tuesday is expected to hear a request for a 10-year, 55 percent tax abatement to assist in the financing of the project.
The new Lenexa headquarters will allow Corbion to consolidate employees from different locations in the metro area to one facility.
“We couldn’t fit everyone into the same building,” Lindsey said.
Prior to 2014, Corbion was known locally as Caravan Ingredients, itself the product of a 2006 merger of Caravan Products and American Ingredients. In 2014, Caravan Ingredients and Purac combined to form what’s today known as Corbion.
The company researches and produces bio-based food ingredients, such as enzymes for baked products and lactic acids to preserve consumer packaged beverages.
