Cabela's mobile gun range allows girls to take their shot
A girls-only gun range in the back of a tractor trailer is stopping in Kansas City, Kan., this weekend as part of a tour of seven Cabela's locations across middle America.
The trailer, open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday to women 16 and older, is owned by Shoot Like a Girl, a company that seeks to increase female participation in shooting sports.
In addition to Cabela's, its corporate partners include manufacturers of archery equipment, as well as gun makers like Colt, Beretta, Ruger and Smith & Wesson.
According to a news release, those who visit the trailer will be able to shoot handguns, long guns and bows, as well as receive lessons in gun safety.
“Shoot Like A Girl produces remarkable results – last year alone produced 5,456 committed gun sales from the women who go through the trailer, and 1,712 committed bow sales,” the company's president, Karen Butler, said.
