KCK police carry out 'several' search warrants at schools

Police performed search warrants at some Kansas City, Kan., schools Friday but would not say why.

In a two-sentence media release, police said they "executed several search warrants" at schools in the Kansas City, Kansas School District. The release said the warrants were "in relation to a student victim" and an ongoing investigation but did not elaborate.

David Smith, spokesman for the district, confirmed that police were at "three different locations" in the district to serve warrants but said he had no other information about the police operation. He referred news reporters to police.

Police did not respond to requests from The Star for more information about what schools police searched and who was involved.
