Member of Chiefs Hall of Honor presented a special gift to Swiss World Cup team
Switzerland’s World Cup team practiced Thursday afternoon at Sporting Park in preparation for its quarterfinal match against Argentina at Kansas City Stadium (aka Arrowhead) on Saturday.
At stake for the Swiss is their first-ever trip to the World Cup semifinals.
A member of the Chiefs Hall of Honor stopped by to wish the Switzerland team good luck and drop off a gift.
Former running back Christian Okoye was spotted on the sideline with members of the Swiss team as practice took place. He brought a No. 26 jersey and appeared to present it to Switzerland head coach Murat Yakin.
The Star’s Emily Curiel took photos of the interaction, which happened during the 15-minute open period for reporters.
Okoye rushed for 4,897 yards with the Chiefs from 1987 to 1992.
It also seemed that Chuck Castellano, the Chiefs’ Vice President of Community Outreach and Alumni Affairs, was with Okoye during the meet-and-greet with the Swiss team.
