The Inn at Meadowbrook in Prairie Village has been home away from home for some of the world’s most famous soccer players.

Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and Cole Palmer all play for major club teams, and while they are rivals during the season, they have joined forces to try and win a World Cup championship for England.

“We go hard at it for 38 games a season, obviously going at it all season for the league and stuff,” England forward Morgan Rogers said Wednesday. “And then to come here, you forget, you completely forget about it. We don’t look at each other as clubs, you almost forget what clubs everyone plays for. It’s just everyone together as one, and because the group has been quite consistent in the last year or so, a lot of the main core of the group of all have stayed and been in the group.

“So when you come back to camp, it’s just, ‘Nice to see you again.’ It’s not so many new faces, which is I think what the manager (Thomas Tuchel) was emphasizing from the start, and you can see that coming to show in games and in big moments, and then obviously in the celebrations after them, too, being silly. So, yeah, it’s nice.”

Another famous face was in Prairie Village recently: Grammy Award-winning singer Ed Sheeran.

ESPN said Sheeran arrived shortly after England beat Panama on June 27 in a group-stage match.

A video on England’s app showed Sheeran at the Inn at Meadowbrook performing for the World Cup squad.

“In 2021, Harry got me down for the camp,” Sheeran said of Kane in the video, “and then I met everyone and I’ve just been to every one since. It’s been great.

“It’s been a nice little tradition. In 2021, we bonded, so it’s never a tough crowd.”

Sheeran sang “Castle On A Hill” for the squad, which clearly enjoyed the show.

It’s crazy to think a star like Sheeran quietly slipped into Prairie Village.
