Sports karma has never come so quickly.

When Algeria scored in added time of Saturday night’s match against Austria at Kansas City Stadium (aka Arrowhead), it looked like a shocking game-winner. Heck, seconds before the ball hit the back of the net, both sides appeared quite content to take the point and head to the knockout stage.

But Riyad Mahrez’s goal scrambled that — and his daughter’s TikTok video.

Mahrez all but apologized for scoring the goal, and while it upset some of the team’s fans who dreaded the thought of their side taking on Spain, one supporter joyously celebrated at Arrowhead Stadium. And then came a bit of taunting.

But, as we all know now, that celebration was short-lived as Austria improbably scored on the final play of the match. That made the final score 3-3 and left the Algerian fan feeling just a little sheepish.

The Austrian fan took it all in stride, but did drop an f-bomb as he talked about his team having to play Spain in the Round of 32. It was another fun moment in Kansas City during this world Cup. Here is the video, but please be aware of the cursing.

As John Lennon once sang: “Instant Karma’s gonna get you” and we saw it in Kansas City.
