Google had a fun tip of the cap to the dog that crashed Olympic event
The official mascots of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics were named Milo and Tina.
They were white-colored stoats, an animal related to the weasel.
But the unofficial mascot was Nazgul, the Czechoslovakian wolfdog. You may recall how Nazgul escaped his home and crashed a women’s team cross country ski event.
One of Nazgul’s owners, Alice Varesco, told The Daily Mail she and her husband were on a train when they started seeing video clips of their dog in the Olympic Games.
“I thought it was impossible,” she said. “We had left him in his kennel and the door was closed, so I couldn’t understand how it could be him.”
But it was him, and sports fans loved it.
Nazgul’s delightful moment caught the attention of Google, which paid tribute to the happy pup.
Over the weekend, anyone in the world who searched for Winter Olympics information got a little bonus: Nazgul running across their screen.
Many shared a video on X of the fun nod from Google.
