For Pete's Sake

KU star Darryn Peterson’s father shared a pointed message on social media

No matter how the season ends for the Kansas men’s basketball team, it’s one fans will remember for a while.

The Darryn Peterson saga, situation or whatever you want to call it continues to dominate the conversation surrounding the Jayhawks.

Even when Peterson plays, fans find a reason to be upset, as the responses to a viral photo from Saturday’s loss to Cincinnati shows. Peterson was rejoining teammates on the court, but some thought it was a bad look.

Peterson is likely to be one of the top picks in this year’s NBA Draft, and his talent is unquestioned.

No one knows how this season will play out, but it’s entirely possible Peterson and the Jayhawks make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. And no one can rule out Peterson playing substantial minutes in March, right?

That seems to be the thinking from Peterson’s father, who shared an Instagram story with a pointed message: “It’s not how you start. It’s how you finish.”

Fox Sports radio host Mark Gunnels shared a screengrab of the post, and fans had many interesting thoughts.

“As long as he both starts and finishes we’ll be ok,” one wrote.

Another shared this: “I really hope he finishes strong ... I’ve been very critical of him but I also have been hoping for him to prove me and everyone wrong.”

“The pic he used is of his son sitting??? 😂🤣” a third wrote.

A fan had this theory: “Finish would be a nice start. Gotta think this is some damage control from the media last week.”
