For Pete's Sake

Tyreek Hill, Dez Bryant and former Chiefs send best wishes to Patrick Mahomes

It’s odd to talk about the Chiefs’ season essentially being over while there is a Christmas tree up in the house.

Since Patrick Mahomes became the Chiefs’ starting quarterback in 2018, they have three Super Bowl championships, five Super Bowl appearances and have played in seven straight AFC Championship Games.

We’re all used to seeing the Chiefs play deep into January or early February.

But there will be no playoffs for the Chiefs this season. A 16-13 loss to the Chargers dropped the Chiefs’ record to 6-8, and they were officially eliminated from the postseason race.

As much as that stings for Chiefs fans, the more pressing concern was Mahomes’ health. Mahomes left Sunday’s game early after his left knee was hurt, and we don’t know the severity of the injury.

A number of Mahomes’ former Chiefs teammates were watching Sunday’s game, and they sent their best wishes to him on X.

“I hate injuries shake back 15,” wrote Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

After it was revealed that Mahomes had a torn ACL in his left knee, Hill shared a simple emoji: 😔

Former Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman wrote: “Heal up 15! 🙏🏾”

Mitchell Schwartz, the former Chiefs offensive lineman, shared this: “And there’s the season. Main order of business right now is seeing how bad Pat’s injury is. Feel terrible for him”

Ex-Chiefs tight end Jody Fortson wrote in response to Mahomes’ message on X: “Small thing to a giant”

Others reach out to Mahomes

Former Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant joined others in sending best wishes to Mahomes.

“You are him and will forever be him. I’m proud to say we were born from the same neck of the woods,” Bryant wrote on X. “If I don’t know anything. I know what the game means to you. Minor setback for a major comeback! This will only make you more confident and stronger than you are today! #BeastTexas rest up! You deserve to relax 15!”

Former NASCAR driver Clint Bowyer wrote: “Prayers for @PatrickMahomes. We’re here because of him, and we’ll be back because of him. @Chiefs”

Royals star Bobby Witt Jr. shared a praying hands emoji, and former KC pitcher Mark Gubicza wrote: “Sending you (prayers) Patrick. You’ll be back stronger than before”
