As Chiefs are eliminated from playoff race, KC fans share their thoughts

Coming into Sunday’s game, the Chiefs had a dim chance of making the playoffs, but they still had an opportunity.

Unfortunately for the Chiefs, there also was a scenario in which the Chiefs could be eliminated from the playoff race depending on the outcomes of four games:

  • Chiefs lose to Chargers
  • Bills beat Patriots
  • Jaguars defeat Jets
  • Texans top Cardinals

The Chiefs were not only beaten, they were battered as at least nine players left the game because of an injury, although many returned. Not so for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, whose left knee was hurt late in the game.

Here is a snippet of what Chiefs fans were saying about the loss and missing out on the playoffs on X and Facebook:

A fan on Facebook wrote: “Patrick Mahomes haircut for 2025 season jinx the Chiefs season. Prove me wrong!!!”

“Thats alright, tough season with injuries,” wrote another. “Hopefully a good spot for some O-line in the draft for to protect 15”

A third shared this: “Well, nothing lasts forever. The Chiefs won their first Super Bowl when I was 7 years old, and I lived long enough to see them win three more. There will have to be some changes in the offseason.”

A fan on Facebook wrote: “It’s been a great run Chiefs’ fans. No dynasty lasts forever. Time to find some draft picks that can contribute right away.”

Another wrote: “Next year a healthier younger squad and if Patrick needs the rest from todays injury we were not going to have the miracle we were all wishing for… let one of the young guns take it this year!”
