It may be Lloyd Christmas type of odds, but I’m telling you there’s a chance the Chiefs could make the playoffs.

But the Chiefs certainly didn’t look like a postseason team in their loss to Houston on Sunday night, other than an inspiring third-quarter performance. The worst season for the Chiefs in the Patrick Mahomes era had been the team losing in overtime of the AFC Championship Game.

Then came the 2025 season and all the frustrations that have accompanied it. The Chiefs seem to have lost their mojo, as other teams have stepped up to make the clutch plays.

Penalties and injuries also have taken a toll, and quarterback Patrick Mahomes had the worst game of his professional career Sunday night at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

One former Chiefs player called on head coach Andy Reid to make a change.

Geoff Schwartz, a guard who was with the Chiefs in 2013, shared this message on social media: “Andy Reid has to make staff changes on offense this offseason. If he doesn’t, he will be fired (or retire). Not that complicated.”

Some fans are calling on Chiefs CEO/chairman Clark Hunt to dismiss Reid, who has guided the team to five Super Bowl appearances in the last six seasons.

Schwartz, who is a SiriusXM analyst, said that’s ridiculous.

“The dumbest thing ever is Chiefs fans wanting Andy Reid to retire/fired. Y’all are crazy,” he wrote on X. “He has earned the opportunity to fix the offense this offseason. If he doesn’t then he won’t be the coach in 2027. But dismissing him after one weird season where nothing went right is silly.”
