For most people, the holidays mean time off from work and an opportunity to watch a sports game or three. Heck, that goes for some NFL players too.

But not the Chiefs.

In three weeks, the Chiefs will play on Christmas Day for the third straight season, and in 2022, they had a game on Christmas Eve. The Chiefs played on Thanksgiving last week and were in action a year ago on Black Friday.

So much for being home for the holidays, right?

During his weekly interview on 96.5 The Fan, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was asked how he balances playing so many holiday games with being a husband and father.

Mahomes made a point of praising his bride, Kansas City Current co-owner Brittany Mahomes.

“I think just first off, having a great wife, I mean, helps out a ton, and her being able to handle a lot of the other extracurricular stuff that I can’t necessarily be there for, and getting the family all settled and everything like that,” Mahomes said..

“And then the only thing good about playing on Thursday is you get the weekend off. And was able to get to spend Thanksgiving with my family and everybody like that. And so obviously don’t get to do it on the actual day, but having a few extra days off where I can get away and be around family was definitely cool.”
