For Pete's Sake

Travis Kelce continued streak of big games after release of a Taylor Swift album

During her interview Monday on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” singer Taylor Swift addressed rumors she turned down a chance to play at the Super Bowl because she wanted control of the performance footage.

That wasn’t the reason. It was because of her fiancée, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

I am in love with a guy who does that sport on that actual field,” Swift said. “That is violent chess, that is gladiators without swords. That is dangerous. The whole season, I am locked in on what that man is doing on the field. Can you imagine if, like, he’s out there every single week, putting his life on the line, doing this very dangerous, very high pressure, high intensity sport, and I’m like, ‘I wonder what my choreo should be.’”

Taylor Swift’s fans love to talk about the “invisible strings” between the superstar singer and Kelce (for example: his jersey No. 87 and her favorite No. 13 equals 100).

One of those invisible strings has been Kelce’s performance in a game following the release of one of Swift’s albums. And this goes back to before Kelce and Swift began their relationship.

The X account NFL memes broke down how well Kelce played after Swift’s previous four records before “The Life of a Showgirl.”

“The Life of a Showgirl” came out Friday and — guess what? — Kelce had another big game right after the album’s release.

In the Chiefs’ 31-28 loss to the Jaguars on Monday night, Kelce led his team with seven receptions and 61 receiving yards. He also scored a touchdown.

That also came one day after Kelce’s 36th birthday, which was Sunday.
