Chiefs reveal 2025 Red Friday flag design that includes Andy Reid’s catchphrase
This year’s first Red Friday celebration for the Chiefs will be a little different.
The season-opening Red Friday soirée usually takes place a couple of days before the Chiefs play their first game, except when they win the Super Bowl, which admittedly has been a regular occurrence in recent memory.
With the Chiefs opening the 2025 season in Brazil with a game on Friday, Sept. 5, against the Chargers, the Red Friday celebration will be held on the same day as when the team plays.
As part of the first annual Red Friday observance, the Chiefs sell team flags and proceeds benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kansas City. The Chiefs said they have raised more than $5 million in sales of the flags through the years.
This year’s flag was inspired by an iconic saying from Chiefs coach Andy Reid. No, it’s not “I love a good cheeseburger.” It’s his victory cry in the locker room: “How ‘bout those Chiefs!”
The Chiefs released a first look at the flags Monday and the immediate reaction from fans was positive.
One wrote: “Take my money lol”
Another said: “Perfect.”
“Coach’s words fly high.. Red Friday legend!” a third penned.
A fan wrote: “Ooo this year’s is a good one!”
How to buy the flags
An online-only presale of the flags will start this Thursday (Aug. 7) at 10 a.m. and go until Monday (Aug. 11) at 11:59 p.m. unless sold out. It will be held at the Chiefs website.
The flags also will be sold on the day of the Chiefs opener.
