Former Chiefs player uses three Super Bowl rings to quiet a social-media critic
Just a few days before Halloween, the Chiefs placed tight end Jody Fortson on injured reserve.
Fortson had been hurt days before in the Chiefs’ 27-20 win over the Raiders in Las Vegas. While attempting to recover the Raiders’ onside kick, Fortson suffered a torn ACL and meniscus in his right knee.
That was a disappointing end to the season for Fortson, who had been with the Dolphins in the preseason before rejoining the Chiefs in September. Fortson is currently a free agent, but he recently shared on social media that he apparently is healthy again.
“Back in that mode,” Fortson wrote.
That news was met with derision by at least one person, who responded by writing: “But not back in camp.”
Fortson, who has dealt with multiple injuries during six seasons with the Chiefs, offered a simple retort. It was a photo of the three Super Bowl championship rings he received from the Chiefs. He placed them on his middle finger.
Some fans got a kick out of that reply from Fortson.
