Patrick Mahomes isn’t alone. Tom Brady was body-shamed — after 5 Super Bowl wins
Despite his incredible success, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes can’t seem to escape the “Dad Bod” criticism that started a few years ago and continues to this day.
Earlier this week, Mahomes’ trainer fired off multiple angry social-media messages at a former sports-talk radio host in Kansas City, who said the Chiefs quarterback was fat and had done nothing but eat and drink all offseason.
Insinuating Mahomes has a “baby seal on his belly” is an easy way to get attention, and Chiefs fans called out the former sports-talk host who is now a podcaster.
That came weeks after seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady praised Mahomes for his work ethic.
Brady didn’t mention it, but he and Mahomes have something in common beyond winning multiple NFL MVP awards and Super Bowl championships.
They’ve both been criticized for their physique.
Ahead of the 2018 season, Brady was photographed with then-wife Gisele Bündchen while on a Costa Rica beach. Brady didn’t have six-pack abs and some body-shamed the quarterback who was coming off a Super Bowl loss.
Fans on Instagram were particularly unkind when TMZ posted that same photo with this caption: ”(H)e proves you don’t have to be ripped to shreds to be the G.O.A.T.”
One comment: “Omg he is Tom B.?? What happened with his body”
“Damn... worst dad body ever,” another wrote.
That sounds familiar, right?
But hey, things turned out well for Brady, as he and the Patriots won the Super Bowl months after the haters criticized his physique.
Mahomes also is coming off a Super Bowl defeat and doesn’t have rock-solid abs, so perhaps the criticism this week is a good sign for the Chiefs.
By the way, the photos of Mahomes that started this whole ridiculous conversation came from his Fourth of July vacation.
