Oddsmakers already bullish on Rookie of Year chances for Royals’ Jac Caglianone
Athletics shortstop Jacob Wilson appears to have the edge for the American League Rookie of the Year award.
But if you’re in the mood to place a wager on the Royals’ Jac Caglianone, he will make his Major League Baseball debut Tuesday in St. Louis. Not that you’ll have to wait for him to step in to the batter’s box for the first time at Busch Stadium.
Oddsmakers already saw the potential in Caglianone, who was the Royals’ first-round pick in last year’s Major League Baseball Draft.
As noted by Johnny Venezia, a former betting analyst for NBC Sports, the oddsmakers had placed odds on Caglianone’s Rookie of the Year chances while he was still in the minor leagues.
Venezia shared a social-media post that said Caglianone’s odds moved from 45/1 to 35/1 from last week once he started playing for Triple-A Omaha. After the Royals announced Caglianone was joining the team, those odds jumped from 35/1 to 12/1.
According to Alex Gold of 96.5 The Fan, FanDuel Sports has Caglianone’s Rookie of the Year odds at 13/1.
DraftKings has Caglianone with the second-best Rookie of the Year odds behind only Wilson. The Action Network puts Caglianone’s odds as tied for second best with the Yankees’ Jasson Dominguez.
