Royals fans could hardly be blamed for feeling dispirited Sunday afternoon following Kansas City’s 1-0 loss to the Tigers at Kauffman Stadium.

The Royals’ sluggish offense opened June with a clunker against division-leading Detroit. The Royals scored the second-fewest runs among American League teams in May, and only the Colorado Rockies have scored less runs this season.

And it should be noted the Rockies have yet to reach double digits in victories this season. So that’s not the company you want to keep.

But ESPN’s Jeff Passan provided a salve on Sunday night when he reported the Royals are planning to call up top prospect Jac Caglianone. The Star confirmed that report, and the power-hitting Caglianone is expected to be in St. Louis on Tuesday when the Royals open a series against the Cardinals.

On social media, Royals fans shared their excitement about the news. That included Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who posted a meme from “The Office” on his X account.

It’s of Michael Scott saying, “Oh my God! Okay, it’s happening.” That sentiment shared by most Royals fans.

Former Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer has long been asking for Caglianone to get the call, but he seemed to be surprised by the news. Make that pleasantly surprised as Hoz posted a meme of Joe Rogan.

Royals fans shared their thoughts on X, too.

“Big Jac is officially a big leaguer,” one wrote..” After how bad the Royals offense looked this weekend. I guess we decided to call up our young stick! Jac Caglianone Will Make Baseball Great Again!”

Another shared this: “YOURE DAMN RIGHT!!! Im too hyped let’s gooo!!! #RoyalsareBACK”

This imagery should get Royals fans excited: “he’s about to light up the majors like a full moon on a summer night”

Another wrote: “My god, dreams are real.”

There was a lot of this sentiment too: “We are Jac’n in Kansas City. #FountainsUp”
