Blues fan recording a watch-party countdown to victory instead captured misery

This wasn’t a happy gathering of St. Louis Blues fans.

The St. Louis Blues held a two-goal lead with less than two minutes to play in Game 7 of their NHL playoff series against the Winnipeg Jets when it all fell apart.

The Jets scored with 1:56 to play on Sunday night, then tied the game on Cole Perfetti’s goal with 2.2 seconds remaining. The Jets then beat the Blues 4-3 on Adam Lowry’s goal in double overtime.

Seconds away from victory and advancing to the second round of the NHL playoffs, the Blues instead saw their season end in Game 7.

Blues fans had gathered to watch the game, and one shared a video of those supporters counting down the final seconds of regulation. A few cheered when they thought the game had ended. Instead, one woman’s “Oh my God!” summed up the feeling of the fans.

The pain wasn’t limited to a large gathering of fans. A TikTok user shared this video of a very nervous Blues fan who was watching with a few others. This countdown also ended poorly.

@toastedravs Yes, I know this is dramatic. I don’t want to talk about it. #nhl #stanleycup #stanleycupplayoffs ♬ original sound - thetoastedrav

It’s not always easy being a sports fan. A little advice: Don’t record yourself watching the end of a game featuring your favorite team.
