Rock star Jack White prepared for a concert Friday night ... by taking in a Royals game.

You may not recognize that name, but there’s an excellent chance you know his iconic song: “Seven Nation Army.” That White Stripes tune has become an anthem of sorts at sporting events.

White was in Kansas City, where he played a sold-out show at the Uptown Theater. That concert began at 8 p.m. with Belle and the Vertigo Waves opening the show.

That afforded White the opportunity to visit Kauffman Stadium, where the Royals on Friday started a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles.

White is a big baseball fan, and he previously talked with the Los Angeles Times about his love of the sport.

“To me, it’s the most meditative sport,” White said. “It brings out a lot of thought for me. The game is long and peaceful. You have these movements of brutal action that break up the peacefulness. It’s really meditative to me.”

That story noted that White likes to play pickup baseball games or visit a stadium while he’s on tour.

White chose the latter Friday but he only caught a few innings of the Royals’ win over the Orioles because, you know, he had a concert that night.
