NFL salary cap bump was bigger than expected. Fans think it’s because of Taylor Swift
The NFL reportedly gave teams some good news on Wednesday.
ESPN’s Dan Graziano said the salary cap for next season will be in the range of $277.5 million to $281.5 million. That comes after the cap jumped from $224.8 million to $255.4 million for the 2024 season.
The increase was larger than expected and means the cap will increase a minimum of $53 million over two years.
Coincidentally, superstar singer Taylor Swift began regularly attending Chiefs games two years ago when she began dating Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce.
Or perhaps that’s not a coincidental. More than a few fans on social media were crediting Swift for the huge jump in the NFL salary cap.
“Taylor Swift simply attending games helped with this a lot but the average football fan will still go (crazy) over the broadcast showing her for a couple seconds,” wrote X user spoonlocks.
X user killatay1387 responded: “And you’re not even a chiefs fan .. just a truther..thank you!”
Here is a snippet of what others were saying on X about Swift and the salary cap.
