Former Patriots and Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady is back at the Super Bowl, but this time as a broadcaster.

Brady will be working Super Bowl LIX as an analyst for Fox Sports. That’s why he won’t have a rooting interest in the outcome, as he said Monday on his SiriusXM show, “Let’s Go!” with Jim Gray.

However, Brady would appreciate what the Chiefs accomplished should they beat the Philadelphia Eagles at the Caesar’s Superdome.

“I will say if the Chiefs win, I will be very happy for them,” Brady said on the show. “I mean, what they’ve achieved is unmatched. And I think that’s cool because people always hated on us for so many years. And I didn’t understand it ‘cause all I did was like, we try to do things the right way, we try to go out there and compete for our job and win.

“And there’s an excellence that I appreciate about people who are doing other things at really high levels because you understand the commitment that it takes for them to do what they’re doing.”

Fans root for an underdog, but it that team becomes too successful, that love can turn to hate.

The Chiefs have experienced that as they’ve either become villains in the eyes of NFL fans or they are exhausted by seeing KC winning consistently.

That baffles Brady, especially given all they’ve had to overcome this season with injuries and playing on six different days of the week.

“To be in this country and to not cheer for excellence is beyond me,” said Brady, who won seven Super Bowl titles. “It’s incredible to see this team withstand all the adversities they faced over the course of not just this season or last season, the year before, they just plowed on, nothing’s distracted them. They’ve just continued to push forward and win a lot of games. … It’s gonna be a terrific game because there’s a lot on the line for both teams…”
