Here is a look at the coin that will be used for ceremonial toss before Super Bowl LIX
As the visiting team at Super Bowl LIX on Sunday, the Chiefs will call the opening coin toss before they play the Philadelphia Eagles.
Because he’s one of the Chiefs’ playoff captains, tight end Travis Kelce could be called upon to make that call. While a guest on “They Call it Late Night,” the ESPN show hosted by Kelce’s brother, Jason, the question was posed to Travis.
Will he be asked to call that toss?
“I can neither confirm nor deny this, Jason,” Kelce replied.
Jason pivoted. If Travis was to make that call, which way would he lean?
“I think it’s gonna be heads or tails,” he quipped.
OK, so we’re going to have to wait until roughly 5:30 p.m. on Sunday to learn if Kelce will make the call on the coin toss.
But we do know what the coin will look like. The Highland Mint said it is producing the ceremonial coin for the Super Bowl. It’s the 31st straight season the company has made the coin.
Here is a look at the coin.
If you’re wondering, here are the coins that were used in the four previous Super Bowls in which the Chiefs played.
