While the NFL didn’t release the divisional playoff schedule until late on Sunday night, Houston Texans fans had an inkling about when their team would play the Chiefs.

Sure enough, the NFL picked the Chiefs-Texans game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium for the Saturday afternoon time slot.

For the Texans, it will be the sixth time in their last seven postseason games that they will be playing on Saturday afternoon. Since the 2015 season, the Texans have played 10 postseason games and nine have been on a Saturday.

The lone exception? The Chiefs’ 51-31 win over Houston on Jan. 12, 2020 in an AFC Divisional playoff contest.

Houston referenced the NFL’s affinity for Texans playoff games on Saturday afternoons with a post Saturday on X, and another after the schedule was released Sunday.

When the Texans learned they’d be playing the Chiefs on Saturday, Houston fans shared their thoughts on the matchup and when the game will be played.

Many fans in H-Town were not happy about another Saturday kickoff. Here is a snippet of what was being said on X, Facebook and Reddit.

A fan wrote on Facebook: “I’m not worried about the Chiefs or their weather. It’s the Chiefs team refs, that I’m worried about.”

Another wrote: “Of course they give us the early slot well we will make sure they put some respect on our name Saturday.”

A fan on Reddit wrote: “It’s their place, but our time. Equal advantage”

Another shared this: “NFL hates us more than they love the chiefs. That’s actually insane haha”

A fan wrote on Facebook: “I should have known better. I thought the chiefs would get prime time.”

On Reddit, a fan wrote simply: “Disrespectful”

Another shared this: “They just don’t want the Chiefs storyline to end poorly in front of a prime-time audience”
