Like Indiana Jones gazing into the Well of the Souls and lamenting what he saw, so it was for people in the Kansas City area who looked outside Thursday night.

More snow was falling and with many roads already not cleared, driving was going to be that much more challenging.

The person running the Lawrence Police Department’s X account was thinking of the impact of the snow, but she or he wasn’t watching “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” Instead, it was the College Football Playoff semifinal in the Orange Bowl.

After Notre Dame defeated Penn State 27-24, this social-media message was shared by the Lawrence Police: “Hoping for no crashes in the snow is as futile as believing Penn State will win a game against a top 5 ranked opponent. Let’s respect the snow and slow down — and don’t tap your brakes when you start to slide. Coast and steer out of it.”

Nittany Lions coach James Franklin now has a 1-15 record against top-five teams in his career, and that stat was widely shared on social media. That’s not a surprise, but the Lawrence Police Department trolling Penn State while sharing a tip for driving in the snow certainly was unexpected.
