Chiefs cornerback Joshua Williams is a big fan of one KC breakfast restaurant
Chiefs defensive back Joshua Williams was a guest this week on the “Up & Adams” show when he was asked if he wanted to shout-out anyone.
Williams was apparently hungry, because he didn’t mention a person. Instead, he gave a nod to his favorite breakfast spot in Kansas City.
“Only thing I could say, shout-out to HomeGrown Restaurant,” Williams said. “That’s where I’m about to go right now, grab me the ‘It Takes The Cake’ special. I’m about to get my pancakes, eggs with cheese on it, grits on the side with cheese and then some sauce. That’s it. That’s the only shout-out I got.”
Host Kay Adams asked if there was anyone in particular Williams was thinking about with his praise.
Williams said it was the cooks at the restaurant he loves.
“I’m not shouting out nobody but the people who make the food,” Williams said. “I have no kind of sponsorship, no nothing. I just go there and enjoy the food. Like, that is the best food. If you come to Kansas City, you need to (go) to ... HomeGrown.”
That’s quite an endorsement. Here is Williams showing his excitement about HomeGrown.
Harrison Ford’s go-to spot
There are four HomeGrown locations in the KC area: Liberty, Brookside, Leawood and the Power & Light District. A location is planned for Merriam, too.
A KC Star story last June said the first HomeGrown restaurant opened in Wichita. Restaurateur Jon Rolph and his wife, Lauren, wanted to focus on using locally sourced food.
Legendary actor Harrison Ford eats there on his trips to Wichita when his maintenance performed on his plane, per a Wichita Eagle story.
