Chiefs will release comedy series featuring Jason Sudeikis and a ‘Law & Order’ star
The Chiefs are hoping the playoffs will be threemendous.
With three playoff victories, they’ll win an unprecedented third straight Super Bowl championship. On Wednesday, the team released a hype video called “Three Acts” about that pursuit.
As they chase history, the Chiefs are continuing their push into the entertainment world with a forthcoming comedy series called “The Magic Number.”
The series will follow “two fans on an adventurous quest for their third friend, hoping to bring the team good luck,” the Chiefs said in a news release. “The multi-part series promises to deliver a mix of humor, heart and playful storytelling.”
“The Magic Number” will debut Tuesday at 3 p.m. on the Chiefs’ YouTube page and other social-media channels.
Emmy Award-winning actor Jason Sudeikis, the Shawnee Mission West graduate and “Big Slick” co-host, will narrate the show. It will star Pete Holmes (“The Best Best Christmas Pageant Ever”), Holly Robinson Peete (“21 Jump Street”) and Christopher Meloni (“Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”).
“Being a part of this Kansas City Chiefs campaign was such a blast,” Meloni said in a news release. “It’s a perfect blend of humor and heart, showing how sports can bring people together in the most unexpected ways. I had a great time working with the crew and playing a part in this fun take on fandom.”
“The Magic Number” will come weeks after the Chiefs’ Christmas claymation video and less than two months after the “Holiday Touchdown” Hallmark movie.
A year ago, the Chiefs made a mock Hallmark trailer ahead of the playoffs.
“We are thrilled to share another special playoff campaign video with our fans, once again capturing the magic of the postseason,” Chiefs president Mark Donovan said in a news release. “’The Magic Number’ is an original concept that we created to celebrate the passion, camaraderie, friendship and joy that our fans bring year after year.
“With this fun and heartwarming story, we wanted to make something that resonates with all of Chiefs Kingdom, putting them at the heart of the action as we embark on another postseason journey.”
