Chiefs designed a trick play at Denver and it involved a backup offensive lineman

Right tackle Ethan Driskell joined the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent before the season, and he played a total of just eight snaps.

Half of those snaps came on special teams and the other four were on offense Sunday in the Chiefs’ loss to the Broncos.

The Chiefs’ game plan on Sunday was as vanilla as a preseason contest, and that was true for the offense and defense. However, coach Andy Reid did work in a potential trick play.

It involved Driskell, who is listed on the Chiefs depth chart as the backup to Jawaan Taylor, running a pass route.

Driskell, who played at Marshall, is 6-foot-8 and 313 pounds. He showed off his nimble side on the play. Alas, backup quarterback Carson Wentz didn’t throw the ball to Driskell.

Even if the Chiefs don’t run that play in the postseason, it’s one more thing for opposing defensive coordinators to consider.
