When the Chiefs prepared to play Denver on Nov. 15, 2015, they held a slim 56-55 lead in the all-time series between the teams.

Fast forward to today and the Chiefs’ advantage is now 73-56: Kansas City has dominated this series over the past decade.

So perhaps the Broncos are hoping to rekindle the magic they had against the Chiefs in the 1970s and 1980s, when Denver was 23-16 against Kansas City. That’s one possible explanation for why the Broncos will be wearing their “Orange Crush” throwback uniforms Sunday against the Chiefs.

Denver needs to win Sunday to ensure a spot in the AFC playoff field, although they could get in with a loss if both Miami and Cincinnati lose.

Here is what the Broncos will be wearing against the Chiefs in the regular-season finale.

The 1977 Broncos made the franchise’s first Super Bowl appearance. But the Dallas Cowboys beat Denver 27-10 in Super Bowl XII.

That’s not the only change that Chiefs fans might notice Sunday. Empower Field at Mile High also will look different.

There will be a nod to the Mile High Stadium days.
