Video shows new angle of Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ absurd pass to Samaje Perine

Samaje Perine was about to make a first-down reception.

Yeah, this is going on the Patrick Mahomes career highlight video.

During the Chiefs 29-10 win over the Steelers, Mahomes completed perhaps the most improbable pass of his career. Yeah, I know that’s really saying something.

But the 14-yard pass to Samaje Perine was absolutely absurd. Perine had been tossed to the ground by Steelers linebacker Patrick Queen as Mahomes was scrambling. Despite that, Mahomes flipped a backhanded pass toward Perine, who made the catch.

After the game, The Star’s Jesse Newell spoke with Perine about the pass completion and the running back provided some great insights.

NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger shared the all-22 view of the catch, and it’s even more ridiculous when seeing it.

When Mahomes releases the ball, Perine is not only on the ground, but his back is to the play. Perine had little time to react, but he turned toward Mahomes and saw the ball in the air and made the grab.

Here is the clip from Baldinger of the alternate angle of the crazy play.
