Quarterback Patrick Mahomes provided his own holiday magic during the Chiefs’ Christmas Day game against the Steelers at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh.

The Chiefs faced a third and 11 in the first quarter on Wednesday when Mahomes was flushed from the pocket. Just when it looked like he might try to pick up the first down with his legs, he instead did something incredible with his arm.

Mahomes threw a 14-yard pass to running back Samaje Perine that got the first down.

And it was amazing for a couple of reasons.

First, it was a backhanded-flip pass that Mahomes floated to Perine. Second, Perine had fallen to the ground before getting up to make the catch.

That’s right: Mahomes threw Perine the ball while Perine was still on the ground.

Check out this incredible play.

My colleague, Jesse Newell, shared a look at Perine’s position on the field when the pass was made.
