With two TDs on Sunday, Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes breaks NFL record held by Aaron Rodgers
Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes reached another milestone on Sunday, and he did it faster than any quarterback in NFL history.
Mahomes did it by throwing a pair of touchdown passes in the first half of Sunday’s game against the Browns at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland. There was a 7-yard scoring throw to JuJu Smith-Schuster in the first quarter and a 6-yard strike to Noah Gray in the second half.
Those two TDs gave Mahomes 241 touchdown passes in the regular season, and he has 41 more in the playoffs. Mahomes also has 18 rushing touchdowns (13 regular season, five in the playoffs).
That’s 300 total touchdowns and Mahomes reached the milestone in his 128th career game (including the postseason).
The Associated Press’ Josh Dubow noted that Mahomes reached 300 career touchdowns faster than anyone in league history. Jets (and former Packers) quarterback Aaron Rodgers had held the record.
Here are the top five in NFL history, via Dubow:
Mahomes: 128 games
Rodgers: 134 games
Dan Marino: 149 games
Russell Wilson: 151 games
Peyton Manning: 152 games
