For Pete's Sake

Belton woman shares details of FaceTime call from Taylor Swift from Arrowhead

Suzie Drew had her doubts about moving to the Kansas City area earlier this year, but her husband, William, made a convincing — albeit unconventional — argument.

“My husband is Active Duty USMC and we moved here back in May,” Drew wrote in a TikTok message to The Star. “I was actually really hesitant about the idea of coming here until my husband said, ‘But what if we get the chance to meet Taylor Swift?!’ And I was sold on the dream.

“My boys and I are HUGE Swifties. We’ve been fans of Taylor for years and not just her music, but her personality too. She is so kind and genuine.”

The Drews, who have three sons, moved to Belton in May, and William began working security at Chiefs games this fall. That’s how William made that prediction come true.

Following the Chiefs’ 19-17 win over the Raiders on Friday at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, Swift hung around for a few minutes before going to see boyfriend Travis Kelce, and she filled that time by giving goodies to people in the stands.

Swift later took time to interact with security workers, including William. And that is when he took a moment to FaceTime his wife, Suzie.

“When I saw the incoming call I said, ‘You better be calling me from Taylor’s suite’ just as a joke, so you can imagine my surprise when he turned the phone around!” Suzie wrote.

Yep, it was Swift, who will wrap up the Eras Tour this week.

“We just had a quick hi and thank you with her on FaceTime. My husband had the most conversation with her,” Suzie wrote.

She added: “Very surreal and truly a once in a lifetime experience. We will forever be grateful to have had even a moment of her time.”

Suzie shared a TikTok video recounting the chat with one of the world’s most famous singers.

@suziedrew Thank you Taylor! We never got the opportunity to make it to The Eras Tour but this may have been even better. You made our night @Taylor Swift @Taylor Nation ♬ original sound - Suzie
