Andy Reid raves about DeAndre Hopkins’ influence on the Chiefs’ locker room
Although he’s only appeared in four games with the Chiefs, wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is tied for second on the team with two touchdown receptions.
Hopkins, who was acquired last month from the Tennessee Titans, has 17 receptions and 12 of those catches have resulted in a first down. That ranks fifth among all Chiefs pass-catchers.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid raved about Hopkins’ influence on and off the field during a chat last week with Bruce Murray and former KC quarterback Alex Smith on the SiriusXM NFL Radio channel.
“Alex, I think you’d love the guy,” Reid said. “I mean, he’s your kind of guy, where he’s good in the locker room. He’s good with the young guys. He wants to help guys the best he can. At the same time, he studies his tail off. I mean, he’s always asking questions, he’s always in the building doing his thing.
“Got a huge catch radius, long arms, big hands, and then he likes the ball, so which, you know, I’m OK with that. I like guys that like it. I struggle with the guys that don’t like it. But he loves to play and he’s 12 years into this thing now, and still can bring it. So he’s been great to have around.”
