It’s been 12 years since the Chiefs have lost a game in Orchard Park, New York, but that’s not what rankles Bills fans.

The Chiefs have not only won four straight at Buffalo, but they’ve knocked the Bills out of the playoffs in three of the previous four seasons. That fact pains Bills Mafia, and they showed their frustration in January.

Following the Chiefs’ 27-24 win at Highmark Stadium in an AFC Divisional playoff game, quarterback Patrick Mahomes dodged snowballs from Bills fans when he left the field.

The good news for Mahomes and the Chiefs heading into Sunday’s game against the Bills is the forecast calls for a high of 56 degrees, so there will be no snowballs flying.

But Mahomes is not expecting Bills fans to be hospitable, as he noted Tuesday during his weekly chat on 96.5 The Fan.

They don’t like me a lot, and they don’t like the Chiefs a lot,” Mahomes said, “so I’m sure it’ll be pretty hostile out there.”

The outcome of Sunday’s game could come into play for postseason seeding. The NFL website shows the Chiefs and Bills both have a better than 99% chance of making the playoffs.

The Chiefs, 9-0, currently are the top seed in the AFC, while Buffalo, 8-2, is in the second spot. So, yeah, it’s a big game, and Buffalo has won the last three regular-season meetings with the Chiefs.

“I think you just know it’s gonna take your best in order to win this football game,” Mahomes said. “You’re playing against one of the best teams in the NFL, the team that you played a lot of times, and know every single time it seems like it comes down to the wire and we’re going to be in the hostile environment.

“So we understand that it’s gonna take our best football in order to get the win. That should be enough motivation in itself.”

Kickoff on Sunday is at 3:25 p.m., and the game will air on CBS Sports.
