Quarterback Patrick Mahomes took a seat on the Chiefs bench and was in a foul mood.

Mahomes had just thrown a fourth-quarter interception during Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium. Fortunately, it didn’t cost the Chiefs as they beat the Patriots 27-17.

And the interception wasn’t Mahomes’ fault.

Mahomes threw a perfect pass to wide receiver Kadarius Toney. But the ball slipped through Toney’s hands and was intercepted by the Patriots (X video from Jomboy).

That led to a short field for the Patriots, who scored a touchdown.

Following the interception, which was Mahomes’ second of the game, he took the bench and Fox Sports cameras caught him in a moment of frustration (X video from Fox Sports: NFL).

I haven’t seen any professional lip readers, but people shared their thoughts of what Mahomes was saying. Well, at least the ones that didn’t include curse words, because Mahomes appeared to use profanity.

Even though we don’t know exactly what Mahomes said*, plenty of people were unhappy with Toney, who had a similar play in the season opener against the Lions.

*Just a guess, but we probably won’t see/hear mic’d-up video of this moment

And, of course, there was that offensive offsides call last week.

Here is a bit of what was being said.
