When did Taylor Swift start seeing Travis Kelce? Sooner than we thought, she tells Time

At the time, it seemed that Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was being playfully coy.

On his “New Heights” podcast, Kelce revealed in late July he had unsuccessfully attempted to get a friendship bracelet with his phone number to music superstar Taylor Swift at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium before one of her concerts.

That was the subject of questioning during Kelce’s appearance on the NFL Network in early August, but he demurred on providing further details.

At the time, it was thought Kelce had nothing to share. But Swift revealed in her interview Wednesday with Time magazine, which named her the 2023 Person of the Year, they already had connected at that point.

“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” Swift told Time. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.

“By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”

By early September, reports trickled out that they had been spending time together.

“Taylor and Travis have been quietly hanging out,” wrote the Messenger’s Lanae Brody and Christina Dugan Ramirez. “She saw him when she was in NYC a few weeks ago.”

Indeed, Kelce was photographed outside one of Swift’s favorite New York hangouts in July.

A few weeks later, Kelce was on “The Pat McAfee Show” and revealed that he had invited Swift to a Chiefs game.

“I threw it out there. I threw the ball in her court,” Kelce said of the rumors of their romance. “And I told her I’ve seen you rock the stage at Arrowhead, you might have to come see me rock the stage at Arrowhead and see which one’s a little more lit. So we’ll see what happens in the near future.”

The future came quickly as Swift made her first appearance at Arrowhead Stadium as a Chiefs fan just three days later with Kelce’s mom, Donna.

Now she wants to be at as many games as possible.

“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” Swift told Time. “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
