This handoff turned out to be a touchdown for one young Chiefs fan.

While at Chiefs training camp in St. Joseph, Cade Nichols wanted to get artwork he made to his favorite player, safety Justin Reid.

Nichols gave two pictures he pained of Reid to Chiefs defensive tackle Matt Dickerson, and he later handed them to Reid. Touched by the artwork, Reid asked Twitter for help in finding Cade.

It didn’t take long for fans to locate Cade’s mom, Janice Nichols, on Twitter and she let Reid know it was her son’s artwork.

A few days later, Reid thanked Cade by giving him a special gift.

“Cade got a pair of autographed game worn cleats from last years championship season,” Reid wrote in a Twitter message. “Thank you to everyone that helped in the search and thank you Cade for your artwork and support! #ChiefsKingdom”

This is great.

“That’s the guy I drew and he is my idol and I’m talking to him on FaceTime, so my little brain is just blown up right now,” Cade told Fox4.
