Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s name has been submitted for Emmy Award consideration
Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce received his second Super Bowl ring a week ago, and there could be more hardware in his future.
Variety reported that Kelce’s name has been submitted by “Saturday Night Live” for Emmy consideration in the Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series category.
Kelce was guest host of the long-running show in March, and acquitted himself well as an actor.
“I was submitted with I think like 10 other guest actors,” Kelce said Wednesday on the “New Heights” podcast. “There are 140 total names in the running, which will be chopped down to six. Six nominees.
“Not quite nominated, still got to beat 95% of the field there just to get nominated. But I’ll take it. It’s an honor for SNL to submit that, knowing that I’m the biggest creep in the world.
“Nobody can play a creep better than me. I’m a creepy son of a gun.”
Other guest hosts submitted for award consideration were Steve Martin and Martin Short (combined nomination), Pedro Pascal, Michael B. Jordan, Dave Chappelle, Brendan Gleeson and Miles Teller, Variety reported.
“Read all those again and tell me which one doesn’t belong,” Kelce quipped.
Variety said SNL chose not to put Jack Harlow and Woody Harrelson up for consideration, so Kelce already beat out a pair of potential nominees.
There are 140 men in the running for the guest comedy actor, Variety said (as Kelce noted), while guest comedy actress has 99 women in the running.
Last year’s Emmy Award winner for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Comedy Series was Nathan Lane for his work in “Only Murders In The Building.”
There was one nominee in the category who was a “Saturday Night Live” guest host: Jerrod Carmichael.
