One Bengals player likely is disappointed with where Chiefs game falls on the schedule
The Chiefs have nine home games scheduled this season, with one being held in Germany and eight at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
That’s Arrowhead, not Burrowhead.
Shortly before the Bengals clinched their spot in last year’s AFC Championship Game, cornerback Mike Hilton joked with his teammates that Cincinnati was ready to play the Chiefs in Burrowhead.
That was a nod to Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who at the time was 3-0 against the Chiefs.
A clip of Hilton’s Burrowhead comment caught the attention of the Chiefs, who mentioned it after KC beat Cincinnati in the AFC Championship Game.
The Bengals have become arguably the Chiefs’ biggest rival and the teams will play again during the 2023 season. Cincinnati will be coming to Arrowhead Stadium on Dec. 31.
Earlier this week, Hilton said he hoped Chiefs-Bengals would be the very first of the NFL’s 272 schedule games.
“I’m pretty sure that’s the game everybody wants to see opening night,” Hilton said, “so hopefully, to the schedule release guys, y’all make sure that happens.”
Alas, the schedule guys didn’t listen to Hilton, who is probably a little disappointed.
