Here is the radio call from Mitch Holthus of the Chiefs winning Super Bowl LVII
For the longest time, Chiefs coach Andy Reid had a reputation of being terrible with clock management.
But at the end of Super Bowl LVII on Sunday, the Chiefs worked the clock to perfection. There were just eight ticks left on the clock when Harrison Butker’s short field goal gave the Chiefs a 38-35 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.
When the Eagles got the ball one final time, quarterback Jalen Hurts had 6 seconds to make a big play. Instead the Chiefs defense forced an incompletion and won Super Bowl LVII.
Here is how Mitch Holthus, the radio voice of the Chiefs, called the final seconds of the game.
“Chiefs 38 and the Eagles 35, 6 seconds left in Super Bowl LVII regulation,” he said. “Hurts takes the snap, the Chiefs only rushing two on a delay, clock is going to be out of time and the pass is going to be ... underthrown. It’s incomplete! It’s incomplete!
“Everyone, everyone who claims the Chiefs Kingdom will raise a banner above the National Football League again. For the second time in four seasons the Lombardi Trophy as a red and gold reflection, a Big Red reflection that the Chiefs are champions of Super Bowl LVII.”
