Both are among the final five players from each league on the Final Vote ballot.
“While the Royals-Cardinals rivalry is among the best in the game, we are proud to join forces to urge fans to send a clear message that we are teams united in our commitment to ensure that the best players take the field for the All-Star Game,” said Royals president Dan Glass and Cardinals president William DeWitt III said in a joint statement.
The teams even enlisted Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon to help.
“With outstanding seasons so far by both the Cardinals and Royals, Missouri is home to the top team in each league,” Nixon said in a statement. “It’s time for fans of both teams to cast that Final Vote for both Mike Moustakas and Carlos Martinez so there is as much Royals blue and Cardinals red on the field next week in Cincinnati as possible.”
Moustakas is leading after the first update of voting.
The Final Vote balloting will end at 3 p.m. on Friday.
Fans can vote at www.royals.com. The Royals said fans can text A5 for Moustakas or N4 for Martinez to 89269 until the voting period ends. Additionally, during the last 6 hours of voting Friday from 9 a.m to 3 p.m., tweets using #VoteMoose and #VoteTsunami will also count as votes for each candidate.
