Two changes Kansas City Royals fans can expect to see at Kauffman Stadium this season

For a time, it seemed like baseball fans might not see an opening day in 2022, or at least not one in April.

The Major League Baseball lockout appeared to threaten the season or at the very least push the start back to May. Instead, Opening Day was only delayed a week, and the Royals are set to begin the season on Thursday against the Cleveland Guardians.

Fans going to opening day or any other game this season will notice some changes at Kauffman Stadium. One is on the outside: fans will be able to buy tickets at the box office on game days. You can learn more here.

Here are two things of note that will be different inside Kauffman Stadium for the 2022 season.

Seats

If you have a ticket and are trying to find your spot to sit, you may pass seats that have names on them. It appears Royals season-ticket holders have their names on seat backs.

Here is a look at the seats from Bally Sports baseball reporter Dave Brown, and Royals coach John Mabry apparently has four season tickets.

Flag

As part of the team’s Bring Out The Blue campaign, the Royals will raise a special 15 foot by 9 foot flag at the start of every home stand. The flag, which has the word home, will be located in right field near the Rivals sports bar.

Beyond the flag, the Boulevard Brewing Company smokestack will be changed for the early part of the season and will say Bluevard.
