Byron Pringle, who will join the Bears, writes sweet message to Chiefs players, fans
Even if he never leads the league in receptions or receiving yards, Byron Pringle is an NFL success story.
After a solid college career at Kansas State, Pringle didn’t hear his name called in the NFL Draft. And so Pringle signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2018. Unfortunately for Pringle, he was on injured reserve his entire rookie season.
But Pringle’s playing time increased slowly but steadily over the next two seasons, and by 2021, he was a solid contributor with 42 receptions for 568 yards and five touchdowns for the Chiefs. He also set a career high with 25 kickoff returns.
Now a free agent, Pringle will join the Chicago Bears, who are giving him a one-year contract. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the deal is worth $6 million and includes $4 million guaranteed.
That’s a nice payday for a player who wasn’t drafted. Pringle leaves Kansas City with great memories and a huge ring because the Chiefs won Super Bowl LIV.
After agreeing to the deal, Pringle wrote a farewell message on Twitter.
“Forever thankful for the opportunity the Chiefs gave me,” Pringle wrote. “Blessed to have been apart of great organization for the past 4 years. Thank you to my coaches, teammates, and fans! #ChiefsKingdom #KState #EMAW”
Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill had a nice response to Pringle’s tweet.
Daurice Fountain, another wide receiver, also congratulated Pringle:
Ditto for running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire:
