Charles Woodson is confident Raiders can succeed with Derek Carr in stacked AFC West
A case could be made that the AFC West is home to the best collection of quarterbacks one NFL division has ever seen.
The Broncos are acquiring quarterback Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks, and he’ll play in a division with the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, the Chargers’ Justin Herbert and the Raiders’ Derek Carr.
That quartet has combined for 17 Pro Bowls, four Super Bowl appearances, a pair of Super Bowl titles, an MVP award, a Walter Payton Man of the Year award, and an offensive rookie of the year award.
Much of those accolades belong to Mahomes, Wilson and Herbert, which led to football fans making jokes on Twitter about the Raiders. Here are just a few examples.
One person who wasn’t laughing: former Raiders cornerback Charles Woodson. The Hall of Famer thinks the Raiders are going to be just fine in the new-look AFC West.
Woodson also believes the late Al Davis, who founded the Raiders, would have been happy with Carr.
Also, Woodson said if Carr played for Andy Reid, he would have better career stats. Unfortunately, he also said the Chiefs play in Kansas.
Raiders fans had a mixed reaction to Woodson’s optimism about Carr, but it seemed there were more positive responses.
