Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes, fiancee Brittany Matthews announce they’re expecting a baby
Seriously, has anyone had a better 2020 than Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes?
It’s only the end of September, but Mahomes led a comeback win in Super Bowl LIV and was named MVP, received a half-billion dollar contract extension and got engaged on the day he was given his championship ring.
Now you can add this news: Mahomes and his fiancee, Brittany Matthews, are going to have a baby.
“It’s extremely exciting,” Mahomes said. “Being able to grow up and have these dreams of having a family and playing in the NFL — for that stuff to start happening and really coming to truth, it’s really cool. I’m just excited that I have a lot of great people around me, and I’m in a great organization, and I’m able to live out these dreams day by day.”
Matthews shared the news on Instagram.
She wrote: “Mom & Dad, taking a small detour to the wedding” and posted photos that included a look at the sonogram.
Mahomes, who turned 25 this month, and Matthews started dating when they were attending Whitehouse (Texas) High School.
At the time, Mahomes was a safety on the football team. He later became a standout quarterback and a star for the basketball team while Matthews thrived on the soccer team.
Matthews, 25, went on to play at the University of Texas at Tyler and later signed to play professionally in Iceland.
In a high school yearbook, Mahomes featured a collage of pictures with his parents, brother, Jackson, and Matthews. The Star visited Whitehouse in January ahead of the Super Bowl, and friends who attended school with them called Matthews “his rock.”
The couple didn’t reveal if they were expecting a boy or a girl.
