Kurt Warner writes classy note after his record was broken by Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes
It seems possible this won’t be the last record Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes breaks.
During the Chiefs’ 34-20 win over the Ravens on Monday night in Baltimore, Mahomes surpassed the 10,000-yard mark for his career. In 34 career games, Mahomes has thrown for 10,310 yards, 85 touchdowns with just 18 interceptions.
No player in NFL history has reached that 10,000-yard milestone as quickly as Mahomes.
Former Rams/Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner held the old record. He had done it in 36 games.
Warner tweeted about seeing his record fall and had great things to say about Mahomes. “(I) told him awhile back, ‘It will be an honor to be mentioned in same sentence as him’ when they mention I’m 2nd!” Warner wrote.
Here is the full message from Warner, the Pro Football Hall of Famer who now works for the NFL Network and mentioned his colleague Steve Mariucci, the former San Francisco 49ers coach:
