Mike Moustakas, Padres players alter uniforms to pay tribute to Royals’ Alex Gordon

At some point in his career Royals left fielder Alex Gordon may have finished a game with a clean uniform.

But for anyone who has watched Gordon in recent years, it’s been easy to spot the pine tar smeared on the back of his uniform. It’s seemingly always there.

For the penultimate game of Gordon’s career, his teammates made a slight alteration to their uniforms in honor of him:

The Royals weren’t the only ones to pay tribute to Gordon. Former teammate Mike Moustakas of the Reds made a similar alteration to his uniform:

Ditto for three of Gordon’s former teammates in San Diego: Eric Hosmer, Tim Hill and Matt Strahm:

On Sunday, Rockies catcher Drew Butera joined in:
