Five stats you might have missed from Chiefs’ overtime win over Chargers
Perhaps the Chiefs struggled Sunday because they missed the “home” crowd they are accustomed to when playing the Chargers in California.
Whatever the case, the Chiefs got the 23-20 overtime win, which is what matters most to the team.
Here are five stats you may have missed from the game (via the Chiefs and Twitter users):
1. Travis Kelce had nine catches for 90 receiving yards and has 6,605 receiving yards in his career. Kelce passed Henry Marshall for the fourth-most career-receiving yards in Chiefs history.
10,940 Tony Gonzalez (1997-08)
7,306 Otis Taylor (1965-75)
7,155 Dwayne Bowe (2007-14)
6,605 Kelce (2013-20)
6,545 Henry Marshall (1976-87)
2. Double-digit deficits are nothing for quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Here’s a note from James Palmer of the NFL Network:
3. Wide receiver Tyreek Hill caught a 54-yard touchdown pass from Mahomes. Hill has 20 plays of at least 50 yards for his five-year career. Just two haven’t ended up as a touchdown. Hill’s 18 touchdowns of 50-plus yards are the most in the NFL since entering the league in 2016.
4. Butker moved into sixth place on the Chiefs’ all-time scoring list.
1,466 Nick Lowery (1980-93)
1,231 Jan Stenerud (1967-79)
517 Ryan Succop (2009-13)
500 Priest Holmes (2001-07)
462 Tony Gonzalez (1997-2008)
445 Harrison Butker (2017-20)
442 Pete Stoyanovich (1996-2000)
5. ESPN had this item on Butker’s overtime heroics:
