Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes began and ended a hook-and-lateral play at training camp

Chiefs fans have come to understand one thing about quarterback Patrick Mahomes: you never know what you’ll see him do.

For example, at Saturday’s training camp practice at Arrowhead Stadium, Mahomes called for a hook-and-lateral* play with a twist.

*Colloquially known as a hook-and-ladder play

Mahomes threw the ball to tight end Travis Kelce, who then pitched it to Mahomes, who scored a touchdown.

Have you ever seen that before? A quarterback getting the ball back on a lateral at or beyond the line of scrimmage? The small crowd at Arrowhead loved it.

While Mahomes has thrown a ball out of Arrowhead Stadium in the past, he came up short in this attempt.
